Description

Albariño Granbazán Extra Brut is born from our unceasing desire to show the versatility of this noble variety, to enhance its ability to show different sides of a product from the same raw material grown in different corners of this privileged Denomination of Origin.

A classic but innovative winery, it is under this duality that has characterised Bodegas Granbazán in its more than 40 years of history that we have wanted to expand our horizon of still Albariño wines, starting with trials in the production of base wines for quality sparkling wines since 2018, thus commemorating the production of Galician sparkling wines dating back to the 1920s.

Vineyards

The grapes come from the northernmost area of the Rías Baixas Designation of Origin, in the municipality of Vedra, north of the river Ulla. Here, at the end of the summer season, the grapes reach a low alcohol content and maintain a crisp acidity, which makes it the perfect place for the production of base wines. The soils are somewhat deeper compared to the Salnés, with the presence of material derived from metamorphic rocks and rich in organic matter.

Tasting notes

Bright straw yellow colour, persistent crown of foam and fine, persistent bubbles. Medium intensity on the nose with notes of green fruit such as apple, enhancing the aromas derived from the ageing process without losing varietal typicity. The palate is very tense and saline on the palate, enhanced by its fine perlage.
